This year April 22nd is both Global Youth Service Day and Earth Day. So in celebration of both the Student Coalition for Action in Literacy Education is conducting a beautification project at E.K. Powe Elementary School, along with Communities in School of Durham, Durham Literacy Center, Achievement Academy of Durham, NCCU American Reads, Duke University Program in Education, and Durham Public Schools. This event is free and open to the public, and anyone and everyone is welcome to attend. Activities:

• Beautification of the building and grounds, with the Gardening Committee at E.K. Powe.
• Collaborative art activities and craft station
• Book Harvest donated a bunch of books that we will be giving away books to child attendees (while supplies last).
• A raffle, which anyone who attends can enter into to win a prize.
